Hollywood and nightlife are symbiotic and cannot exist without eachother and without the true LA Scenesters that hold the keys to what’s hot and not together.
An LA Scenester (or any scenester) is someone in the know. Someone who can maneuver around the elusive Hollywood nightlife scene getting into the hottest nightclubs easily while others wait outside (and possibly never get in). True LA Scenesters even knows how to maneuver into the hottest and celebrity ridden spots without spending money. Getting bottles comped and favors and not having to think twice about how to bypass the line outside. This is as much the Hollywood dream as having a house in the hills. This is the True LA Scenester. To figure this out is not easy even for LA natives. Everything in LA is competitive including la nightlife… from getting in the door just to have a good time to working in the nightlife scene as a bartender/dj/manager etc. Top DJs in LA make thousands a night. One bartender gets picked out of 3,000 applicants on average. The door (or ‘ropes’) is representative of Hollywood itself. The hottest clubs attract the celebs and hottest people, and to get into any hot or new club you cannot just show up unknowing and expect anything but to be left outside. The scene for single guys especially is a challenge. You have to know a promoter well or drop at least several hundred dollars on bottle service in the hottest nightclubs. With everyone trying to be friendly with the hot promoters in town and the door guys this isn’t easy. And even with a great job dropping over a thousand on a night out isn’t necessarily easy either. Anybody can be rejected at any given time depending on who is working the door. Celebrity DJs, performers, special events, models and famous faces hosting different events at different clubs on any given night is the only constant in Hollywood nightlife scene.
